The FTC Advanced CAD / Design Class is an intense, design-challenge oriented experience aimed as raising the skills and capabilities of attendees.

Objective: Students will 1) improve CAD proficiency, 2) gain constraint-based subsystem design experience, and 3) gain design integration experience through a combination of interactive presentations and independent design challenges with the BioBuzz game element
Structure: The class will run in a design challenge oriented format

  • Each class will involve some lecture, but the primary learning will come from the independent design challenges—challenges will be announced at the end of each class, and submissions are expected to be finished by the following Sunday
  • Each design challenge will enable creative freedom; we want participants to think outside the parameters we supply → we will announce design challenge winners at the start of each subsequent meeting, with “points” accumulating through the final meeting
